So you have decided to sue PayPal. You've got all your papers filled out and you are ready to go to the post office. There's just ONE problem: You have no idea where to send your legal papers.
All states require proper service of your legal papers. Proper service includes sending your papers to the right place. If you send your legal papers to the wrong address, PayPal can force dismissal of your lawsuit based on the grounds that you "improperly served" them.

Serve PayPal Their Legal Papers: It's Easy
Once you have all of your legal papers filled out, you need to serve PayPal. "Serving" them means that you are informing them that you are going to sue them and that they must respond to your complaint. You MUST do this if you are going to proceed with your small claims case against PayPal. There are TWO ways to serve PayPal.
The FIRST way is to serve PayPal at their California Headquarters. No matter which state or U.S. Territory you live in, you can serve PayPal at the following address:

The SECOND way to serve PayPal is by using their REGISTERED Resident Agent in the state where you live. What is that? PayPal has filed certain documents with your state's Secretary of State. Each state requires a corporation to have a "resident agent" listed. The resident agent is a person or company who is authorized to receive documents on another corporation's behalf. In our case, you are going to serve your legal papers to PayPal's resident agent FOR YOUR STATE. That means you can serve PayPal their legal papers without having to worry about sending your papers out-of-state.
